The Position

2026 Summer Intern - Technology Integration

Department Summary

The Technology Integration (TI) team for Research and Early Development focuses on numerous integration activities in the Sequencing project. The team is responsible for research software to run the instrument, deep dive data analysis, baseline integration, and system troubleshooting. Technology Integration ensures that all the various complex components of the Sequencing system are working together seamlessly while pushing performance to a higher level.

This internship position is located on-site, in Santa Clara, CA.

The Opportunity

  • Drive a specific project aspect that will have significant implications for the Roche Sequencing program.

  • Design and execution of sequencing experiments utilizing Roche's nanopore sequencing platform

  • Both wet and dry laboratory work performed using industry-standard practices, including maintenance of a well-organized and concise record of work performed and progress made

  • Work closely with senior scientists and engineers on integration of new improvements to the system

  • Deep-dive analysis of experimental data using various quantitative and qualitative methods, with regular presentation of findings at internal meetings

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

Will have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework at an accredited college/university.

Required Mayors:
Biochemistry, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related field

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Expertise working with Python, R, and Linux/Unix (bash) is strongly preferred

  • Completed at least one full year of research experience is strongly preferred

  • Understanding of DNA manipulation techniques and sequencing methodologies

  • Understanding of fluid dynamics

  • Experience with integrating hardware and software together

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $30.00-$33.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
