Job Description

Operates and maintains target vehicles and threat systems, including YPG systems, threat surrogates, and the Target Management Office (TMO) fleet. Maintenance includes all required inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and associated troubleshooting and diagnostics. Operations includes operating threat systems, targets, and vehicles with integrated systems during test and training missions, often in a field or tactical setting - which requires a class B or higher CDL. Performs and trains less experienced co-workers in all levels of maintenance (operator, crew, and organizational) to include repairs and major component overhaul on the hull, turrets, and communication systems in accordance with appropriate technical manuals. Inspects all section maintenance actions and annotate on proper forms as well as record all replacement parts and time on the applicable work order. When required, supports test missions conducting vehicle operations and maintenance support; ensuring all threat systems are mission capable prior to the start of a mission. Conducts multiple operations for the Threat Systems Section, interacting with Test Officers and ensuring compliance with test support requirements. Repairs air brake systems and/or pneumatic components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, specialized or one-of-a-kind system components, and other similar systems. Diagnoses electrical, hydraulic, electronic (electro-mechanical) systems and repair target systems including foreign radar systems. Diagnostics also includes electrical systems in the hull and turret, starting and charging systems, electrical components, and foreign engines. Must read, interpret, and follow technical manuals as well as understand and interpret the Cyrillic alphabet. Properly documents maintenance actions on applicable forms. Mentors, trains, and assists mechanics with less knowledge within Threat Systems working as a team. Prepares and submits; Cost Estimates, Test Plans, and Event Records, as required. Tracks all progress in ATEC's PMM database. Assumes the leadership role on projects ensuring safety, integrity, task completion, and quality customer service. Must travel and conduct operations and maintenance duties at off-site locations up to 30% of the time, including remaining at the travel location up to 3 weeks at a time. Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications

Pay Rate:$38.66

Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:

*Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
*Must possess a class B or higher CDL and maintain it for the duration of employment in section.
*Must obtain and maintain a Limited Test Officer Certificate through Air Combat and Electronic Test Division.
*Must have and maintain a U.S. passport.
*Must have 8 years of experience on YPG ranges.
*Must have 8 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of foreign fleet threat systems.
*Must have been a Threat Mechanical Specialist IV for 2 years.

Job Skills Requirements:

*Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
*Must not have any current disciplinary actions in personnel file.
*Must be able to travel for off-site duties up to 30% of time and remain at travel location for up to 3 weeks at a time.
*Must be able to use two-way radios, email, and cellular phones for communications.
*Must be able to comfortably enter, operate, and exit foreign target vehicles including T-72, BMP MTLB, and 2S3.

Physical Requirements:

*Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
*Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
*Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
*Must be able to work long and varied hours.
*Must be capable of frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods.
*Must be able to ascend and descend equipment.
*Must be able to visually distinguish colors.
*Must be capable of lifting and transporting 75 lbs. unassisted over uneven ground for 50 feet.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

*Possess 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
*Possess a class A CDL.
*Possess the ability to communicate with customers, coworkers, support personnel, military, government, management, and senior officials in a professional, positive, and customer-focused manner.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:

*Must be a U.S. Citizen.
*Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
*Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
