OVERVIEW:

Cabin Leaders live with campers during their week at camp, providing supervision, leading cabin activities and devotionals, and participating in all camp programs. They help meet campers' spiritual, emotional, and social needs while guiding them through experiences like hikes, games, swimming, and campfires, all with the goal of helping them grow in Christ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide daily supervision and ensure camper health, safety, and a positive camp experience
  • Encourage camper participation in all scheduled activities and programs
  • Lead evening cabin devotions and plan cabin activities that support spiritual growth
  • Establish and enforce cabin rules that promote safety, respect, and community
  • Refer ongoing behavioral issues to the Unit Leader
  • Conduct indoor activities during inclement weather with appropriate supervision
  • Maintain cabin cleanliness, including sleeping areas, bathrooms, and personal quarters
  • Participate in evening and special programs
  • Lead or assist with elective or emblem classes
  • Report maintenance needs to the Facility Manager or Maintenance Crew Chief
  • Supervise assigned free-time activity areas and provide nighttime supervision
  • Build relationships with campers to foster a meaningful and Christ-centered experience
  • Model Christ-like behavior in conduct, service, and interactions
  • Report suspected child abuse immediately to the Unit Leader
  • Other related duties as required


All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum 18 years of age (required)
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (required)
  • Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • General skills working with children (required)
  • Must have personal and growing relationship with the Lord
  • Able to creatively solve problems and camper misbehavior
  • Able to filter and use appropriate language around campers
  • Ability to work under high pressure situations
  • Must be of good moral character


EQUIPMENT USED:



  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
