OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Program Director supports the Assistant Camp Director in planning and implementing summer programs, organizing weekly staff schedules, coordinating evening programs, carnivals, and special events, and fostering the spiritual growth of campers, staff, and self.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Support the Assistant Camp Director in planning and leading meaningful programs aligned with camp goals
  • Help direct the camp program and program team, including scheduling, ceremonies, campfires, announcements, and staff coordination
  • Meet regularly with the Assistant Camp Director to evaluate camp strengths and areas for improvement
  • Foster camper and staff fellowship and success through engaging activities and spiritual development
  • Teach and lead camp songs, games, and evening programs; assist with camper discipline as needed
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of program areas (REC closet, turf field, playground, etc.) and recreation supplies
  • Conduct inventory before camp begins, maintain supply needs, and submit requests
  • Maintain safety standards, develop conduct rules, and perform daily equipment checks
  • Track camper progress and support skill development from beginner to advanced levels
  • Supervise free-time activity areas and assist with special programs and events
  • Participate in opening/closing day procedures and late-night supervision as assigned
  • Collaborate with staff to provide creative ideas and resources for special events
  • Report property maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Crew Chief
  • Build relationships with campers and staff, modeling Christ-like behavior and service
  • Actively contribute to the spiritual formation of campers and staff
  • Immediately report any suspected child abuse to the Assistant Camp Director and follow proper procedures
  • Other related duties as required


All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum 21 years of age (required)
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (required)
  • Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Interest, knowledge, and skills in recreation, programming, and ministry
  • Comfortable leading large group activities and speaking in front of crowds
  • Ability to teach and engage youth and staff ages 8-21
  • Well-organized, collaborative, self-motivated, and able to take initiative
  • General experience working with children
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
