Come join our team responsible for troubleshooting and performing traffic signal system maintenance of the traffic signal systems.

Education/Training/Experience:
  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Two or more years of experience in the inspection, maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment and traffic control devices.
Special Requirements:
  • Class C California driver's license
  • Certification and training equivalent to Level I and II International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Technician Certificate.
  • IMSA Work Zone Safety Certificate.
Skills/Abilities
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks on traffic signal system operations and visual checks of the system's hardware.
  • Provides information to the public concerning traffic related activities.
  • Participates in the day-to-day operation of the City's traffic signal system maintenance program.
  • Investigates reports of malfunctioning or improperly timed traffic signals; responds to emergency situations, on an on-call basis, involving traffic signal system.
  • Assists Traffic Management Center staff in the maintenance and repair of the City's Traffic Management Center and field communication system.
  • May assist in administering traffic signal maintenance contracts.
  • Assists Public Works Inspection in performing field inspections of traffic signal system construction to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and standards.

The position is a full-time benefited position with a 4/10 work week, every Friday off, unless an emergency occurs.

Application Process Applications will be accepted until Monday , February 2 , 2026, at 5:00PM . Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications may be invited to an oral interview tentatively scheduled for the week of February 16 , 2026 . The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).

The Organization
The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members. Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.
