DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be tasked with planning, scheduling, and supervising a team of equipment operators and laborers engaged in various heavy construction activities for highway maintenance. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, including patching, crack sealing, shoulder repairs, drainage installation and cleaning, guide rail setup, roadway sweeping, litter collection, pothole filling, roadway widening, and addressing public complaints, as well as managing emergency responses to adverse weather conditions or accidents. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of field activities, promptly reporting any unusual incidents, injuries, or equipment damage, and investigating highway-related complaints to ensure appropriate responses. Keeping detailed road logs will be essential for effective work planning and prioritization, while you will also recommend and schedule work scopes, workforce requirements, and necessary equipment to minimize downtime. Training crew members on the proper use of tools and equipment, along with maintenance procedures, is crucial for compliance with safety standards. Additionally, you will select suitable traffic control setups and prioritize safety for both the crew and the public, promoting awareness of work area conditions and implementing measures to prevent accidents, ensuring that any injuries are reported immediately and that first aid is administered as needed. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel and overtime may be required.
- Dual shifts in effect November through March.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,105 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
