Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Healthcare Patrol in Suffolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal in a healthcare location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas to help deter security-related incidents and provide peace of mind to staff, patients, and visitors. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, as well as responding to emergency situations when appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, utilizing appropriate de-escalation techniques and following established protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the healthcare facility and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential security-related concerns.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and sensitive areas within the location to help to deter unauthorized access and maintain a visible security-related presence.
  • Complete detailed and accurate reports regarding incidents, observations, and activities during assigned shifts.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare staff and emergency responders to support security-related operations and respond to medical or other urgent situations as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of the unique environment and challenges within a healthcare setting, adapting security-related procedures accordingly.
  • Operate and maintain assigned security-related equipment, including firearms, in accordance with Allied Universal policies and client requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an Armed Guard Card or Armed Guard License.
  • Handcuffing Certification is preferred.
  • Baton Certification is preferred.
  • Guard Card or Guard License is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
