The Breast Care Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the clinical care of patients in the breast program; working closely with physicians, imaging staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team to promote a coordinated approach to care; depending on the situation, acting as the primary contact point for the patient in navigating the patient through the continuum of care; participating in program development, quality initiatives, and other activities affecting the overall operations of the beast program; serving as the patient advocate and liaison with inpatient and outpatient members of the treatment team.

  • Program Development/Administrative Responsibilities: 1. Works with the Administrative Director, Radiology and Program Director, Oncology on Program Development and growth.2. Enhances image and reputation of the breast program; maintains visible presence with referring physicians, community organizations, and professional associations.3. Participates in marketing initiatives. Initiates community outreach efforts to increase breast health awareness in collaboration with marketing/public relations personnel.4. Collaborates with Quality Assurance Coordinator to identify appropriate quality indicators for breast program; tracks and reports results as required.

  • Clinical Responsibilities: 1. Ongoing assessment of breast care program operations ensuring a streamlined process for patients.2. Coordinates clinical care related to breast diseases; helps patients in expediting scheduling of treatment and follow up care; serves as patient advocate and liaison for coordinating clinical care including breast imaging, surgical consultation, and other specialty referrals.3. Screens patients prior to surgical procedure. Assess patient pre and post procedure and assists in Biopsy Procedures.4. Acts as liaison for coordinating patient care including scheduling office visits, tests, surgical procedures, etc. Educates the patients about abnormal findings, next steps and provides emotional support.5. Collaborates with physicians coordinating breast clinical research efforts.6. Serves as a patient advocate by:-Assisting patients in obtaining medical records from both internal and external facilities.-Assists patients in obtaining timely appointments for tests, surgery and follow up care.-Assists patients with transportation issues through collaboration with social worker and community organizations such as American Cancer Society.-Educates patients and family on breast diseases.-Provides lists of oncology resources to patients and family, including psychosocial and nutritional support, lymphedema, and CAM and helps to facilitate contacts.7. Acts as liaison with the MLH Cancer Program.8. Identifies patients for Cancer Risk Assessment and Genetics Program and coordinates referrals to genetic counselor.9. Participates in Quality/Performance Improvement activities.

Position: Program Coordinator, Breast Care
Shift: Part-time, 32 hours per week

Experience:
Minimum three years recent Breast Imaging/Oncology experience.

Education:
Graduate of JRCERT approved program in Radiologic Technology.

Licensures/Certifications:
BLS Certification by American Heart Association preferred upon hire, required in timeframe specified in CPR (BLS)/ALS/PALS Policy
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) required or RN/LPN, or RMDS required.
Advanced Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT, RN/LPN or RDMS
