THE POSITION

Washington County's Assessment and Taxation Department (A&T) is seeking to fill a Bilingual/Non- Bilingual Administrative Specialist II position in our Elections Division.

The Position
The Elections Administrative Specialist II (ASII) serves as the first point of contact for in-person customer inquiries, providing courteous and knowledgeable assistance to the public regarding voter registration, election processes, and general voting information. This role requires extensive use of elections software and the implementation of detailed procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Team members are expected to exercise independent judgment in both content and presentation, and they maintain frequent public contact to explain policies, procedures, and election-related services in a clear and professional manner. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to, preparing and processing ballot requests and mailings, performing data entry, and supporting candidates and campaign representatives with filing requirements. The ASII also plays a vital role in administrative and clerical functions, contributing to project coordination and documentation

The Ideal Candidate
As an Administrative Specialist II within the Elections Division, the candidate will be expected to provide support in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of elections processes. Candidates should have excellent administrative skills, exercise considerable independent judgment, and be interested in the technology applicable to the work environment. Ideal candidates should have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, be flexible, self-motivated, and possess a positive attitude. Candidates should also be highly skilled in verbal and written communication, time management, customer service, organization and prioritization. Lastly, a strong work ethic with reliable attendance and punctuality is highly preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.
  • Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement.
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal background check post-offer.
  • Some positions may require oral and written fluency in another language.

Selection Process

  6. Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
