The University of Arizona's Department of University Information and Technology Services (UITS) invites you to apply to the role of Cloud Systems Administrator. This position is responsible for implementation and maintenance of Active Directory, Entra, and Windows system infrastructure to improve the security, operational stability, and regulatory compliance of the University's central Active Directory environment. Uses an extensive knowledge of Microsoft technologies and AWS services to support enterprise Microsoft services and server environments. Specific Projects of Interest: Secure AD - assists campus departments in migration of AD resources to a hardened Active Directory environment. Campus Cloud Infrastructure - assists campus departments in migration of Windows server environments into AWS. Managed Cloud Services - assists campus departments in the adoption of cloud-based, managed Microsoft services (MSSQL, IIS, etc.). The Managed Cloud Services team is a collection of motivated and ambitious AWS, Microsoft, and Linux architects, engineers, and systems administrators from varied technical backgrounds who rely on their creativity and expertise to resolve a wide array of institutional challenges by developing innovative solutions to campus computing needs. Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws. A comparable hourly rate range would be: $48.03 - $76.84. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Implements and maintains Active Directory, Entra, and SCCM infrastructure to enhance operational maturity best practices and automate processes in a large-scale, Microsoft enhanced security baseline-compliant AD environment.
- Provides operating system and application administration for Enterprise service offerings and infrastructure.
- Consults with other architecture & engineering teams in the adoption of Microsoft enhanced security processes, cloud technology, and other industry best practices.
- Participates in the creation and maintenance of PowerShell scripts to automate tasks in conjunction with Microsoft Architects.
- Handles escalations from and provides Microsoft technologies knowledge transfer to Tier 1 and 2 support staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
- Strong, working knowledge of the following technologies/services:
- Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra, SCCM, Microsoft SQL, MIM, PAM, PIM, Azure, PowerShell, Microsoft 365, etc.
- Networking: VLANs, TCP/IP, firewall, switches, routing, etc.
- Services: DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.
- AWS services: EC2, VPC, CloudFormation, IAM, Security Groups, AWS Backup, AWS Systems Manager, etc.
- Current industry security practices.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related area.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive information technology experience in area of assignment which may include systems administration, cloud engineering, network systems administration, applications design/development.
OR
- 12 years of progressive information technology experience in area of assignment which may include systems administration, cloud engineering, network systems administration, applications design/development or combination of experience, training and/or education.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- 5+ years as a Systems Administrator utilizing Windows Operating systems for a large, networked environment.
- Systems Administrator experience working within a hardened Microsoft Active Directory/Entra environment adherent to ESAE/RAMP architecture.
- Strong experience authoring PowerShell scripts to automate processes.
- Hands-on AWS experience in EC2, S3, and CloudFormation.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
