Vehicle Thermal Analysis Engineer

  • We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated vehicle thermal analysis engineer to join our CFD team
  • You will be responsible for the simulation, analysis, and design optimization of critical vehicle thermal system
  • Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring our vehicles meet and exceed the targets of thermal performance, durability and efficiency

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Conduct 3D CFD and 1D thermal simulations to analyze and predict the thermal behavior of vehicle system under various operating conditions
  • Lead the thermal analysis and design of underhood thermal management to prevent overheating issues
  • Analyze and optimize engine intake air temperature to ensure optimal combustion efficiency and engine performance
  • Evaluate charge air cooler (intercooler) system for turbocharged/supercharged engines to maximize air density and power output
  • Conduct heat management analysis for exhaust pipe systems, including design and validation of heat shields to protect underbody components and meet surface temperature targets
  • Perform simulations and analyses for de-icing, de-fogging, and passenger compartment climatization
  • Collaborate with design and packaging teams to ensure optimal component layout for thermal performance and airflow management
  • Correlate simulation results with physical test data from wind tunnel and vehicle testing to validate and improve analysis models and improve analysis model and methodology
  • Provide clear, actionable design recommendations and technical reports to guide engineering decisions
  • Support root cause analysis and propose solutions for thermal-related issues identified during development and validation phases
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies, simulation tools, and industry best practices

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Master's or PhD in automotive engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in automotive thermal analysis using CFD or/and 1D tools.
  • Direct hands-on experience with one or more of the following:1) underhood thermal management, 2) engine cooling & radiator performance, 3) intercooler and intake system analysis, 4) exhaust system heat shield design and analysis, 5) cabin cooling and heating, 6) defrost and dehumid, and 7) battery and power electronics thermal management
  • Proven experience with CAD tools (e.g. CATIA, Siemens NX), CAE preprocessing tools (e.g., ANSA, Hyperworks), CFD solvers (e.g., Star CCM+, Taitherm, Particeworks), and/or 1D system simulation tools (e.g., GT-Suite, amesim, flowmaster)
  • Solid understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics as applied to automotive systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven, analytical approach
  • Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
