About You


You are a person who is passionate about collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial data, operational data, medical coding, and clinical documentation to optimize revenue cycle performance. We need someone who is experience in providing data-driven insights and operational analysis to improve financial performance across the revenue cycle. In the role of Revenue Cycle Data Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting initiatives in patient access, billing, coding, denials, and collections through reporting, analytics, and process improvement.

About The Position


Data Analysis & Reporting



  • Develop, maintain, and automate revenue cycle reports and dashboards (e.g., AR days, denial rates, net collection rate, DNFB, clean claim rate).
  • Perform variance and root-cause analysis on key performance indicators.
  • Identify trends and root causes of revenue leakage, claim denials, and payment delays.
  • Collect, clean and analyze data from EHR, billing, and financial systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Athena, SSI, or Waystar).
  • Monitor charge capture, reimbursement, and payment posting trends for anomalies.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and expected reimbursement.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly performance reporting to finance and revenue cycle leadership.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data used for financial and operational reporting.
  • Document analytical methodologies and maintain standard reporting definitions.



Operational Performance Optimization



  • Partner with revenue cycle and operational leadership to identify revenue cycle gaps and recommend improvement
  • Conduct deep dives into issues such as billing delays, denials, and underpayments.
  • Support business cases for new tools, automation, or technology enhancements.
  • Provide data for regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance reviews.


Project Support



  • Support implementation of new revenue cycle initiatives, business intelligence tools, software and external partnerships.
  • Document business requirements and translate them for technical teams.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and training for new processes or tools.


Collaboration & Communication



  • Work closely with HIM, Coding, Patient Financial Services, and Support teams.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership through clear visualizations and summaries.
  • Provide education to end-users on interpreting data and using dashboards.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Finance, Data Analytics, or related field required.
  • Experience with healthcare billing, payer policies, and reimbursement methodologies (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial).
  • Strong understanding of the revenue cycle continuum: patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and collections
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau/Dundas and EHR reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of KPIs and benchmarks across registration, billing, and AR management.
  • Excellent presentation and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Requirements:



  • 3--5 years of experience in revenue cycle operations, healthcare financial analysis or financial performance analysis
