Job Summary: To investigate malfunctions, determine causes, and repair equipment, building, grounds, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services in order to maintain the scheduled flow of production and a suitable working environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions, physical demands, or work environment.

Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.

Investigates, diagnoses and corrects malfunctions occurring in equipment, building and grounds, pneumatic hydraulic, electrical and mechanical services systems with minimal supervisory assistance.

Assembles and installs manufacturing equipment, pumps, compressors and related hydraulic and pneumatic systems, controls and lines, brings such equipment and systems to proper and sound working condition.

Investigates and diagnoses malfunctions. Repairs or determines and advises appropriate supervisor on proper corrective measures to be taken.

Fabricates less complex manufacturing equipment.

Performs general and miscellaneous equipment and building construction duties such as general carpentry, cement finishing, pipe fitting, and block laying.

Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wire together according to electrical code.

Service and maintain low and medium voltage switchgear.

Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial control equipment such as motors, variable speed drives, temperature controls, proximity sensors, photoelectric devices, pressure switches, and programmable logic controllers.

Provide electro/mechanical planning and support as required for all projects within the plant.

Conduct all assigned preventative maintenance

Performs other duties as assigned.

Completes annual updates of OSHA required training as assigned by supervisor.

Reports all safety malfunctions, near hits, and/or injuries to supervisor immediately.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisor responsibilities.

Education/ Experience/ Skills:

Completed courses in hydraulics, Industrial Electronics and pneumatics.

Hand welding.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Journeyman level certification from state-approved skilled trades program (or equivalent)

Fork Truck Certification (periodic re-certification required)

Welder Certification

Physical Demand & Work Environment:



  • Often required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision ability required include close vision
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
