Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Engineer at Redstone Arsenal, AL

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school (aerospace, mechanical, or industrial/systems desired) and 0-6 years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft and/or aviation systems; and conducting basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aircraft design and manufacture. Additional experience acceptable for Engineer-II. Advanced degree may be considered to decrease experience requirements. Intermediate knowledge of aircraft/aircraft systems (e.g., flight controls, displays, radar, comm/nav, etc.) and/or test and evaluation experience highly desired. Intermediate competency with MS Office, programming, Matlab, Python, and technical writing desired.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Rotary-wing or fixed-wing flight test experience, or experience in a related discipline is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct developmental flight test for Utility Assault platforms.
• Perform flight test engineer duties as crewmember on flight test aircraft.
• Monitor in-flight test activities, via real-time telemetry systems or as an aircraft crewmember.
• Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers.
• Prepare pre-test documentation (test plans, test readiness reviews, safety reviews).
• Provide technical expertise with regard to the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives.
• Perform in-depth engineering data reduction and analysis.
• Write comprehensive test reports to provide usable, accurate, and readily-interpretable results.
• Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives.
