Summary Ultrasound Technologist Full-Time, .9 FTE, 36 hrs. I First Shift BHCOR-Radiology Diagnostic I Corbin, KY The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body's internal structures. Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas. Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections. Provides health care services by applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis. Performs sonography procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by a Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure. Job Description: Produce quality images for Radiologist review. Record image release in EHR and verify PACS archiving. Send images to tele-radiology after hours. Participate in peer review and assist with ACR accreditation. Support equipment/software selection. Restock supplies and report equipment issues. Schedule maintenance and assist with EHR updates. Monitor inventory and maintain equipment. Stay current on regulatory standards. Verify orders and patient identity. Document incidents and time-out procedures. Follow protocols and provide initial interpretation. Monitor patients and assist providers during exams. Maintain professional conduct and teamwork. Follow hospital policies and manage patient flow. Train students and new employees. Adhere to dress code and safety guidelines. Attend safety training and infection control programs. Participate in fire and disaster drills. Requirements: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) BLS, Required, new employees requiring CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association should receive (CPR) training within the first week of orientation.
