DESCRIPTION

Hillcrest 7 East is a 14-bed Medical-Surgical Unit providing high-quality care for medicine and behavioral health patients in a secured environment. This unit is ideal for nurses who are passionate about nursing excellence, patient safety, compassionate communication, and family-centered care.

The Nurse Manager is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, patient experience and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care.

Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others. Manages nursing and administrative operations in specific patient care areas. Implements changes to patient workflows and operational processes. Maintains 24-hour line management responsibility for the administration of fiscal, material and human resources. Other duties as assigned. Direct reports are typically supervisor level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.

  • Current UCSD BART certification; or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.

  • Seven (7+) or more years of relevant experience, including at least five (5) years of recent Med/Surg, PCU, or higher acuity RN experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Three (3+) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management role as a Registered Nurse.

  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.

  • Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to create and maintain a climate for effective communication and collaborative decision making.

  • Strong leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives.

  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.

  • Relevant specialty certification.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $149,700 - $297,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $71.70 - $142.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
