What to Expect

The Quality Technician is responsible for launching rework/inspection containments on Products that do not meet quality standards. Technicians work in tandem with Quality Engineering to correct and contain any quality defects identified in Production or in the Field. They work cross-functionally with various upstream production and engineering departments, maintenance teams, and suppliers.The purpose of the Quality Technician is to minimize the amount of product that does not meet Design specifications from reaching production.


What You'll Do
  • Document and communicate any identified defects internally and to cross-functional teams
  • Communicate emerging and trending quality issues to prevent larger impact to the line to IQT and GA leadership through proper escalation
  • Construct and maintain strong partnering relationships with cross functional teams in all locations (onsite and offsite to Fremont Factory)
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support investigation, containment and execution for strategic quality issues
  • Collaborate with Planning Teams, PMI, and Quality Engineering on upcoming New Product introductions in Production
  • Perform quality audits on the rework floor at all active stations to ensure process is being executed to Tesla Standards
  • Validate cycle time studies with inspection and rework teams and the Quality Inspection Management

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive diagnosis, servicing, and repair techniques of automobiles (may be substituted for experience in General Assembly at Tesla)
  • Handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals
  • Associate's Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
