| Position Summary |
The System Security Compliance Analyst will work with
ACIS staff, developers, researchers, and the IT Security Office to achieve and maintain IT infrastructure into baseline compliance with industry best practices,
UNC-Chapel Hill security policies and standards, and other regulatory security controls (e.g.,
NIST 800-171,
NIST 800-53,
HIPAA Privacy Rule, etc.). Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:
* Assessment of the impact and urgency of vulnerabilities identified through security scanning tools
* Implementing Change Management activities related to IT infrastructure security compliance and vulnerability remediation
* System configuration and patch management utilizing tools and Standard Operating Procedures as defined by the
ACIS team
* Assist in the alignment of servers, endpoints, and network equipment to security policy though collaboration with other
ACIS team members and
RENCI IT groups
* Provide support to users in conjunction with security and/or configuration changes |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Master's and 1-2 years' experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and related technologies
* Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or derivatives
* Experience with VMware vCenter and ESXi
* Strong experience with IT service management (
ITSM) methodologies and tools.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and analytical abilities.
* Ability to apply independent judgement to plan and coordinate project activities.
* Experience presenting (both written and verbal) information to diverse audiences.
* Working knowledge of information technology concepts, including a range of hardware, software, and infrastructure. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with a diverse, cross-functional group of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
* Ability to independently manage multiple assignments with competing priorities and adapt quickly when those priorities change.
* Experience coaching and mentoring others in IT change management practices.
* Experience in a Higher Education environment is a plus.
* Familiarity with data center best practices |
