Summary:
Belcan is seeking a Supplier Development Specialist to support a strategic supply chain improvement initiative. This role will assess supplier capabilities, identify production and quality risks, and implement corrective actions to improve on-time delivery, manufacturing quality, and cost performance. The ideal candidate will operate as a key liaison between purchasing, supplier quality, engineering, and manufacturing, helping drive sustainable improvements across the supply base.
Key Responsibilities:
*Serve as the supplier development focal, partnering with Purchasing and Supplier Quality teams
*Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through on-site audits, capability assessments, and performance reviews
*Analyze supplier metrics and quality data to identify systemic issues and areas for improvement
*Lead problem-solving and corrective action efforts, including SCARs, RCCA, and quality deviation resolution
*Support sourcing decisions by aligning part placement with supplier competencies and capacity
*Maintain and manage the Approved Manufacturers List (AML), including qualification and re-evaluation activities
*Provide technical support to suppliers on manufacturing methods, process controls, tooling, and layouts
*Assist in onboarding and developing new suppliers as needed
*Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, supply chain) to ensure parts are delivered on time and to spec
Required Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering and quality engineering
*Experience in supplier development & quality, supply chain, and production engineering processes
*Experience with composite and/or metallic parts manufacturing
*Knowledge of AS9100 and quality management systems
*Willingness to travel heavily to supplier sites for audits and development activities
*Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
*Familiarity with AS9102 (FAI) and AS9145 (APQP/PPAP) standards
*Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
