Overview

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking an experienced RN to join the team at Presbyterian Hospital Downtown. In this role you will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity hospital setting. This role involves continuous monitoring, administering treatments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for pediatric patients.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • Direct experience preferred


Responsibilities

  • Monitor critically ill pediatric patients and respond to changes in condition swiftly and effectively.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusions, ventilator support, and emergency interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and specialists to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and education to families during stressful and uncertain times.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in electronic health records (EHR).
  • Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitors.
  • Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe, clean environment for patients.
