Genesis10 is seeking a Data Engineer for a 8-month contract position with a client located in Milwaukee, WI. This role is onsite.

Summary:


Genesis10 is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a versatile professional to join our team in the role of Data Engineer. This position combines the responsibilities of Data Engineering and Data & Reporting Analysis, requiring a well-rounded skill set and the ability to handle multiple facets of project delivery. The Data Engineer will work on a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and subject matter experts in an agile environment to deliver impactful outcomes. This role involves providing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, insights, and trends to decision-makers, driving informed business decisions through detailed data insight reports.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead day-to-day efforts to acquire, analyze, combine, synthesize, and structure data with clear definitions and sources for analytical consumption.
  • Perform Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to clean, transform, and load data from various sources into data warehouses.
  • Utilize programming knowledge in Python, SQL, HCL (Terraform), and Apache Spark.
  • Work within an AWS environment (including Redshift and AWS Glue).
  • Set up and manage SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) jobs to automate data workflows and ensure seamless data integration.
  • Consult with data consumers to identify meaningful datasets for analytical use.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate communication, coordination, and planning to achieve common goals.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to document current state, proposed future state, gap analysis, and cost-benefit analysis for assigned projects.
  • Produce actionable reports that display key performance indicators and identify areas for operational improvement (Power BI, Excel).
  • Provide expert-level insights at the department level and contribute to enterprise-level analyses.
  • Partner with peers, business partners, and product management to understand business domains and continuously grow enterprise data knowledge.
  • Author user stories and technical requirements, translating business needs into data solutions and validating use cases.
  • Ensure acceptance criteria are met on all user stories, including testing and validation.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering, debugging, analysis, testing, and documentation.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining datasets to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Advanced programming skills with a strong understanding of database structures, theories, and practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
  • Strong understanding of Data Quality, Data Concepts, and Data Integration Patterns (ELT/ETL, EII, Replication, Event Streaming, Virtualization).
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with analytical and visualization tools including SQL, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Skilled in connecting to databases, API calls, and Power BI dataflows (preferred).
  • Certifications demonstrating mastery of role-specific competencies are a plus.
  • Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
  • Able to work as a W2 employee of Genesis10 (no corp-to-corp).
