WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of ten stations. |
| Position Summary |
North Carolina Public Radio-
WUNC is hiring an intern for
Embodied as part of its Youth Reporting Internship program.
This is a paid position with flexible hours, up to 16 per week, with a pay rate of $18/hour. The position will be in-person with some possibilities for hybrid/remote work. A computer will be provided.
The position is expected to start in early January and run through mid-May. The intern is expected to participate in a showcase event on May 7, 2026. The internship may continue through the summer. The intern will participate in skills workshops with other
WUNC Youth Reporting Interns.
This intern will work within WUNC's Digital Content department primarily with the team behind Embodied - a radio show and podcast telling stories about sex, relationships and health.
Job duties will primarily include content creation for web and social media platforms. This intern will provide feedback on the show's social and digital strategy and also will be asked for production support as needed. The candidate will support the producer, editor and host of Embodied in engaging their audience through social and digital platforms. Candidates for this position should have some graphic design and/or digital marketing experience. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
This position is open to currently enrolled college students and recent graduates. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with standard spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style; understanding of journalistic practices, ethics and public media core values.
Candidates for this position should have some graphic design and/or digital marketing experience. |
