Bailey Medical Center offers a full range of medical services, including general surgery, maternity, gynecology, bariatrics, orthopedics and emergency care. The 73-bed hospital is one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the region.

• The Nurse Extern may perform all the duties of the nursing assistant, as well as other technical skills which have been learned in a nursing education program and for which competency has been previously demonstrated under the supervision of a faculty member, except administration of medication or blood products*.
• The Nurse Extern must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
• The Nurse Extern is a temporary position for participation in the Nurse Extern Program made available to nursing students who have finished their junior year.

Job Requirements:

• Students must be enrolled in an ACEN or CCNE accredited RN program and be in good academic standing
• Have a grade point average of 3.0 or above
• Have completed one semester of nursing clinicals with final grades reflected on an official transcript
• Must be able to attend hospital orientation in full in December or January
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
