Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate/GED Preferred.

Serv Safe Certification Required

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Specalized Skils & Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of basic therapeutic diets.
  • Knowledge of basic food service sanitation.
  • Knowledge of food portion and waste control.
  • knowledge of industrial equipment and utensils, and skill in utilizing such
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Ability to cook in large quantities.
  • Ability to read menus and recipes.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Follow menus and recipes as provided by the Director of Food & Nutrition Services and Dietician.
  • Complete and prepare meals in a timely manner as prescribed by posted meal times
  • Adhere to standards for food temperatures during cooking, serving and storage of leftovers. Logs food temperatures in the log book 100% of the time
  • Comply with established guidelines for sanitation and safety according to NJ State Sanitation code: Chapter 24. Completes food temperature logs
  • Report any equipment malfunction immediately to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services, Chef Manager or internal maintenance department.
  • Adheres 100% of the time to Summit Oaks Hospital's policies on hand washing and hand hygiene.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
