This is a remote position with the preferred location being in Colorado.
Base Compensation Range: $101,500 - $127,000
*In addition, you qualify for:
- Annual bonus opportunity of 15% based on company performance
- Annual equity award of $14,000

Job Summary
The Financial Reporting Manager role is fundamental to ensuring the transparency, reliability and timeliness of Mesa's external financial reporting. With support and oversight from the Director of Financial reporting, this position is responsible for preparing quarterly and annual SEC filings in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. The Financial Reporting Manger will also perform technical accounting research projects, perform general accounting procedures to ensure accurate and timely accounting close cycles, support audit processes, and participate in or lead special projects as assigned. The position reports directly to the Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Duties/Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare Form 10-Qs and Form 10-Ks, including face financial statements and footnotes, in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Prepare Form 8-Ks, Proxy Statements, and other SEC filings, as requested.
- Manage the preparation and review of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL).
- Prepare disclosure checklists and monitor new accounting pronouncements to ensure completeness and accuracy of disclosed information.
Close Process:
- Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparing recurring and non-recurring journal entries related to corporate or technical accounting functions (e.g., statutory- to-U.S. GAAP adjustments, stock-based compensation, leases, etc.)
- Complete account reconciliations.
- Assist with intercompany elimination entries and the consolidation process.
- Analyze account balances and clearly communicate unusual changes via written and verbal communication.
Technical Accounting:
- Support recurring technical accounting projects such as equity award valuation, lease modifications, and quantitative goodwill impairment testing.
- Collaborate with external specialists and internal colleagues on significant and unusual transactions as necessary, including gathering, validating and providing inputs, and researching appropriate U.S. GAAP accounting treatments.
- Assess the expected impact, timing and preferred adoption methodology for new accounting pronouncements.
- Clearly communicate findings and conclusions verbally and in written format, including via formal technical memos.
SOX and Audit Support
- Perform SOX compliance procedures.
- Work with internal and external audit to provide necessary documentation and information for audits.
Projects and Process Improvement
- Participate in or lead special projects as assigned, including projects internal to the accounting group or that require cross-functional cooperation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance reporting efficiency.
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to Mesa sites, expected less than quarterly.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required.
- 4-8 years of experience in financial accounting, audit, or related experience.
- Accounting or audit experience with a listed public company subject to SEC regulations preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of GAAP and SEC topics, as well as familiarity with SOX.
- Proven experience working with auditors.
