Compensation: $200k-250K base + 20-30% bonus

One of Vaco's PE backed partners is seeking an experienced Controller to lead their accounting organization through a period of modernization and growth. With revenue of approximately $130M and strong EBITDA performance, the company continues to expand both organically and through multiple annual acquisitions.

This role offers high visibility with senior leadership and the opportunity to make a lasting impact by building scalable processes, developing a team, and supporting continued M&A integration efforts. Ideal for a seasoned Controller who thrives in a hands-on, fast-moving environment and wants to help shape the financial foundation of a growing PE-backed business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all corporate accounting functions including general ledger, financial reporting, payroll, AR/AP, and tax compliance.
  • Manage a team of 10-12 direct reports across multiple locations
  • Oversee consolidated close and reporting across multiple entities, reducing close timelines and improving reporting accuracy.
  • Build and standardize accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation (SOPs).
  • Lead integration efforts related to recent and upcoming acquisitions, ensuring smooth financial transitions.
  • Partner closely with operations and executive leadership to provide financial insight and support business decision-making.
  • Manage external audit and tax relationships and ensure full GAAP compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ERP utilization (NetSuite).
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity.
  • Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience in mid-market, PE-backed environments ($100M+ revenue).
  • Strong process orientation with demonstrated ability to modernize and streamline accounting operations.
  • Hands-on leadership style with excellent communication and team development skills.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite (ERP) and related accounting systems.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
