The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine is responsible for providing anesthesia and analgesia services in the Hospital and Clinics. Service areas include, but are not limited to: Pavilion OR, SDSC, CSC, PACU, IR, Pulmonary Lab, Cancer Center, GI Lab, Midtown GI, EP Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, L&D, Pain Center, MRI, Burn Unit, ER and all ICU's. This position functions as an experienced provider of anesthetic services and airway management under the general direction of medical faculty. Provides anesthesia for all patients, including the more complicated/difficult patients of all ages. CRNANA

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) without restriction
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- Current California RN license, in process, or the ability to obtain California RN license by the time of hire
- Current CRNA license, with the ability to obtain a California
- CRNA license and proof of application (receipt or cancelled check) to be licensed as a California Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the time of hire
- Must be a graduate of an accredited CRNA Masters or Doctoral Program by the time of hire
- CRNAs must demonstrate current and continuous certification by the NBCRNA as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the time of hire
- Must be a graduate of an accredited CRNA Masters or Doctoral Program by the time of hire
- Experience in a Clinical Setting
- List in descending order of importance, the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of this position.
- Current and continuous certification by the AANA as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
- Knowledge of general nursing theories and practices.
- Knowledge of and strong skills and abilities in airway management and the use of anesthetic agents, ancillary drugs, techniques and their safe administration.
- Knowledge of and ability to provide invasive monitoring techniques and interpretation.
- Ability to establish priorities and organize workload.
- Knowledge to legal implications for clinical practice.
- Skill to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal communication, utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills.

Department Overview
Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine is a leading multispecialty practice offering comprehensive training, high-quality patient care, conducting innovative research and educational opportunities. It is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine with an annual budget of $79+ million and is comprised of 90 faculty, 15 MSP MDs, 32 VCF & associated faculty, 58 Residents, 10 Fellows, 65 Nurse Anesthetists and 35 Administrative Staff.
The Department provides patient care across many locations: UCD Pavilion (main hospital), Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), UC Comprehensive Cancer Center, Hospital-Based Clinics, and Community Care Networks (CCNs); providing service to 50+ operating suites each day and over 48,000 anesthetics annually. Funding includes state, endowment opportunity, indirect cost return, reserves, summer sessions, service enterprises, educational sales & service, & self-supporting activity. Department Specific Job Scope
Takes anesthesia history that identifies both physical and psychological needs (completes preoperative checklist); reviews and revises assessments based on patient's condition; relates data obtained from assessments to disease processes and treatment modalities, including surgical intervention; recognizes and intervenes in situations that call for immediate action based on previous clinical expertise and knowledge; assesses the patient (and family's) perception of anesthesia taking into account cultural, psychosocial and psychological tools; assesses the level of anesthesia care required for a specific patient; develops an anesthesia care plan; plans strategies for solving patient care problems with other members of the health care team; discusses anesthesia care plan with anesthesia faculty, then with residents and CRNAs at change of shift; handles unexpected situations setting appropriate priorities for implementing patient care (i.e. emergency surgery).
