Teaching Assistant - Grading Support (Temporary, December 2025)
Program: WVU-TUFE Joint Degree Program
Course Instructor: Dr. Li Wang
Appointment Type: Part-time, temporary (approximately December 1-31, 2025)
Work Location: Remote

West Virginia University seeks a temporary Teaching Assistant to support grading and assessment for a course delivered by Dr. Li Wang within the WVU-TUFE Joint Degree Program. This role focuses on timely, rubric-based grading and clear written feedback to students, in coordination with the instructor.

Time Commitment and Schedule
Temporary engagement for December 2025; hours vary by enrollment and assignment volume, expected total hours not to exceed 100 hours.
Turnaround windows will be set with the instructor (evening/weekend flexibility may be helpful).

Reporting and Supervision
Reports directly to Dr. Li Wang (Instructor).
Collaborates with the TUFE Program administration as needed for access and logistics.

What You'll Do

  • Grade student assignments, quizzes, and/or essays using instructor-provided rubrics and guidelines.
  • Provide constructive, written feedback that is clear, specific, and aligned to course learning outcomes.
  • Enter and maintain grades accurately in the Learning Management System (eCampus/Canvas) by agreed deadlines.
  • Communicate proactively with Dr. Wang regarding grading progress, common student issues, and any anomalies.
  • Uphold academic integrity, confidentiality, and FERPA-aligned data handling at all times.
  • Attend a brief kickoff/orientation and periodic check-ins as needed (virtual).

Pay Grade: 16

Work Hours: 25 Hours per Week

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience grading college-level writing or coursework (TA/tutor/writing center/teaching experience a plus).
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail; ability to apply rubrics consistently.
  • Proficiency with LMS tools (eCampus/Canvas), Microsoft 365/Google Workspace, and file management.
  • Reliability in meeting fast turnaround times during a compressed winter term.
