Senior Director mRNA Vaccines (Flu, Covid, Combo)

Location: Philadelphia (preferred), Durham, NC, NA, or other locations like London GSK HQ or Wavre, Belgium

As a Senior Director, mRNA Vaccines Flu, Covid & Combo you will be leading the commercial strategy and the launch preparation of these vaccine portfolio assets

This position reports to the VP, Vaccines Commercialization Lead Flu, Covid and Pandemic.

You will be accountable for the mRNA Flu, Covid & Combo asset and disease area strategy, ensuring that the business cases and investment strategies accurately and transparently reflect internal and external data, assumptions, risks and opportunities and are effectively communicated and aligned with relevant global, regional and local business partners.

Spanning science, medical practice, competitive intelligence, strategy, marketing and corporate finance, you will be responsible to ensure alignment between the asset commercialization strategy and key strategic levers e.g. the target vaccine profile (TVP), key claims, clinical development plans (CDP).

You will be accountable for the development of the brand marketing foundations and the global marketing campaign in co-creation with priority LOCs (US, Germany, Japan) and to accelerate these once the 1st mRNA Flu/Covid asset passes Commit to Phase 3 Milestone (planned for end Q1/early Q2 2026). You will be responsible for developing and scaling up the team of Commercial Directors in this transformational period.

You will be a key member of the Vaccine Development Team (VDT) and Vaccine Commercialization Team (VCT) that are responsible for product and strategy development, championing investment projects and presenting the associated investment proposals at the Financial Review Committee (FRC) Pharma Investment Board (PIB).

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Lead the partnership with R&D, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Manufacturing and the priority local operating companies (US, Germany, Japan) to ensure successful strategy alignment and commercialization planning for mRNA Flu, Covid & Combo vaccines.
  • Manage and grow high-performing team of two Commercial Directors, scaling its size and capabilities in alignment with asset development progress. You will also strengthen the commercialization and execution focus of the team as the path toward launch progresses.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of the commercially led parts of the integrated asset plan (IAP)
  • Develop robust, evidence-based global asset forecasts and valuations to support strategic decisions and trade-offs associated with investment proposals (internal and external).
  • Understand key competitor strategies, programs, and investments and be able to articulate how these may shape the marketplace and our position in it
  • Define, structure, plan and commission market research activities, ensuring that all insights are gathered ethically and in accordance with applicable codes of conduct.
  • Select & onboard the brand agency to deliver the creative brand concept & core campaign elements
  • Lead the team in developing and delivering competitive global marketing campaigns, omnichannel strategies, engagement experiences, and congress plans, with input from co-creation countries. Ensure alignment with clinical data flow and respond to changes in the competitive landscape or external environment.
  • Have a deep understanding of the US vaccines market dynamics and market access environment
  • Influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional leaders across global, regional, and local teams through proactive, professional, and credible interactions.
  • Manage the global commercial budget efficiently and effectively.
  • Identify commercial business risks and mitigation actions.
  • Serve as a role model and embed GSK's values and culture in all aspects of your work.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS Degree in Business, Finance, Health Economics, Marketing, Science or equivalent.
  • Diverse experience in pharma and/or vaccines Marketing
  • People Management experience
  • Experience leading commercial function(s) within the US and/or other key countries like Germany or Japan

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, PhD, MD preferred - postgraduate degrees in medicine and/or science and business/strategy
  • Field Experience, e.g. Sales, Market Access, MSL etc.
  • Previous regional/global function and experience in a major organization
  • Substantial experience in leading product launches or similar (e.g. re-positioning, indication expansion)
  • Diverse Life-science commercial background including insight work
  • Proven leadership track record in delivering performance
  • Proven application of high-quality strategic analytics and ability to provide insightful commercial and market analytics and intelligence
  • Proven ability in asset and portfolio forecasting
  • Ability to understand and engage with relevant business partners
  • Thorough understanding of the commercialization process
  • Experienced in a global matrix environment, able to drive impact across a range of functions, seniority, and geographical locations
  • Ability to lead delivery end to end and take ownership and accountability for the deliverables
  • A proactive and strategic thinker who inspires, motivates, and influences diverse teams, direct reports and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to see the big picture and effectively prioritize short- and long-term objectives.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills.
