As our remote Septic System Plan Reviewer you will be responsible for evaluating and approving septic system design plans and permit applications for residential, commercial, and municipal projects. This role ensures that all proposed systems comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and align with municipal infrastructure planning.



Responsibilities

What You'll Do:
    Design Review:
    • Review engineering and architectural plans for proposed septic systems.
    • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, environmental codes, and site-specific conditions.
    • Evaluate soil reports, percolation tests, and system sizing calculations.
  • Permit Evaluation:
    • Assess permit applications for completeness and technical accuracy.
    • Approve or request revisions to septic system permits based on design compliance.
    • Maintain records of reviewed plans and issued permits.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Interpret and apply relevant codes, including local ordinances, state health regulations, and environmental protection standards.
    • Stay current with changes in septic system regulations and design standards.
  • Coordination & Communication:
    • Communicate with engineers, developers, and property owners regarding design requirements and revisions.
    • Collaborate with planning and zoning departments to ensure alignment with land use and infrastructure goals.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Prepare technical review summaries and maintain digital records of all plan reviews.
    • Assist in developing standard operating procedures for septic system plan review.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Health, or related field, or California Resident Environmental Health Specialist certificate
  • 5 years of experience in septic system design review or environmental permitting in California is required.
  • REHS cerified is a plus
  • Familiarity with state and local wastewater regulations and design standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD, or plan review software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The pay range for this California position is $30.00- $40.00 per hour; base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
