Location: 5300A Holabird Ave., Baltimore, MD 21224

Shift:

Full Time (40 hours), (4) 10-Hour Shifts ; 3 days off. Weekend work is required.

Position Summary:

A CDL A and 5 5-year clean driving record is required and will be verified. Reports to the Transportation Manager, and performs pick-up and delivery functions throughout various Johns Hopkins Hospital/Health System locations in and around the city of Baltimore, Washington, DC, and the surrounding counties. Primary responsibilities include supplying, packaging, and making food deliveries and package pick-ups using a commercial vehicle; loading materials to maximize truck capacity, ensuring safety and the integrity of the load; and unpacking bulk items and inspecting for damage daily per established departmental policies. This position will require a Class A Commercial Driver's license to operate heavy trucks and tractor-trailers.

This position will perform all required safety checks (i.e., pre-/post-trip), including inspections of vehicles in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; follow all DOT and company safe driving guidelines and policies; report all safety issues and/or repairs; and take appropriate action as needed. This position may also perform various other duties as required to aid the receiving operation, including receiving and providing customer service.

Education:

High school diploma or GED Certificate.

Work Experience:

* Two years of related experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or healthcare environment.
* 1 year of prior commercial driving experience.
* Healthcare distribution experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:



  • Valid Maryland Class A Driver's License with no driving violations for 5 years
  • An active certification for motorized pallet movers
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and//or /or ability to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Safe Drivers Course
  • Annual Towline Training


Knowledge/Skills:



  • Knowledge of vehicle operations, including preventative maintenance, proper loading and unloading of trucks, safety and highway regulations, receiving and inventory procedures, and supply handling equipment.
  • Experience in maintaining the maintenance log and daily delivery run sheet.
  • Experience with safety operating manuals & battery-operated pallet jacks, flatbed trucks, supply carts, elevators, wheel chocks, dock levelers, and conveyor belts.
  • Experience driving standard and automatic transmissions
  • Good communication skills in dealing with other employees and vendors
  • Familiarity with computer systems and the ability to type.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take direction and follow institutional guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to be flexible to meet schedule needs and handle frequent, unpredictable changes.
  • Ability to work as a committed team member by contributing in a positive, enthusiastic, engaged, and collaborative manner


Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
