As a Vice President within the UHG Trend Analytics' - Forecasting & Insights team, you will be instrumental in advancing healthcare analytics and developing data-driven strategies that improve health outcomes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, solve complex challenges, and deliver actionable insights for our business partners

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Delivery:
    • Serve as the lead actuary on large-scale, complex engagements, ensuring high-quality deliverables
    • Demonstrate an innovative solution-oriented approach to managing relationships by deeply understanding each business, processes, and unique needs-proactively identifying opportunities to deliver greater value
    • Diagnose business partner needs and design comprehensive solutions that address both stated and underlying business challenges
    • Persuade partners of achievable results by building trust, minimizing risk through demonstrated expertise, and inspiring confidence with proven experience
    • Present analytic findings and proposals in a clear and compelling manner to C-Suite senior leaders (CEO, CFO, etc), business partners as well as clinical, operational, and actuarial teams
    • Build strong relationships across key decision-makers and influencers; use personal credibility and influence to achieve positive organizational impact
    • Oversee the development of sophisticated data programs and forecast models using tools such as SAS, SQL, Excel, R, Python, and PowerBI, and interpret modeling results to synthesize actionable insights and clear recommendations
    • Provide strategic direction in program roadmap development and execution
  • Team Leadership / Talent Development
    • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports professional growth and encourages innovative thinking
    • Demonstrate cross-functional leadership by partnering with internal stakeholders across departments to execute strategy and drive business outcomes
    • Provide strategic direction in program roadmap development and execution; communicate a clear vision for the team that aligns with organizational goals
    • Mentor future organizational leaders, actuaries and analysts by supporting career development while cultivating a high-performance culture
  • Strategic Vision and Thought Leadership Advancement:
    • Exhibit strong strategic vision by anticipating trends in the healthcare market; position UHG Trend Team as thought leaders through proactive planning and continuous education
    • Advise partners on business strategy, operational efficiency, healthcare best practices, and emerging industry trends
    • Influence stakeholders internally and externally; negotiate effectively to secure buy-in for ideas, proposals, or solutions
    • Continuously broaden the impact actuaries provide to the broader organization in evaluating, projecting and impacting trends

Required Qualifications:

  • Credentialed actuary (FSA or ASA)
  • 12+ years of health care actuarial industry experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a people and project manager including project management and business development
  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare actuarial leadership role driving deep, productive relationships with senior-level executives
  • 5+ years of experience with Medicare
  • Proven experience clearly articulating technical concepts to non-technical senior leaders (CEO,CFO, etc), ability to understand perspectives of multiple constituents
  • Recognized industry thought leader with experience collaborating with cross functional partners and presenting analytical findings to an executive audience
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, and experience designing and running complex data programs, (e.g., extract and analyze data via R, SAS, SQL, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, VBA, predictive modeling, .net )
  • Local to MN, working out of the Eden Prairie office 4+ days per week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Actuarial Degree
  • Experience with trend and forecasting
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate and correct others in a positive, constructive and respectful way

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
