Job Summary
This position is for a full time for a Staff Pharmacist 2 within the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center Outpatient Pharmacy. Works under general direction and provides patient care, clinical services and patient consultations within the scope of pharmacy practice that optimizes medication therapy and promotes health, wellness and disease prevention for our patients. Provides direction to Pharmacy Residents, Interns, Technicians and non-licensed personnel. Pharmacist must have the ability to provide patients with medication information and product identification and participate in the evaluation and management of diseases and health conditions in collaboration with other health care providers. #CA-SB Apply By Date 11/19/2025 by 11:59pm Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.), or equivalent training
- Two (2) years of recent outpatient pharmacy experience
- Experience performing quality assurance and order verification
- Customer service and patient counseling experience
- Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area to expertise.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cai Formulary and other third-party billing systems.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic and brand names and abbreviations and drugs on current hospital formulary.
- Interpret and understand physicians' orders and pharmacy and nursing records.
- Accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
- Knowledge and understanding of current California Pharmacy Law and other Federal Regulation (e.g. DEA) effecting the practice of pharmacy.
- Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English.
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times.

Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital outpatient pharmacy
- Ability to supervise technicians, interns and residents and establish priorities of workflow
- Computer skills that facilitate medication order entry and fluent use of clinical software programs

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution. Work Environment UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Must be able to work, weekends, rotating holidays and occasional evenings, nights. Special protective equipment must be used for preparation of hazardous substances and spill cleanup. TB test and blood serum sample required annually per Joint Commission Standards.
