Be part of the team enabling NASA's deep space exploration.
Astrion, supporting NASA's Johnson Space Center through the JETS II contract with Oceaneering, is looking for a Senior Structures & Mechanisms Engineer to contribute to the Gateway program-the space station that will orbit the Moon and enable humanity's next giant leap.

This role is your chance to shape the systems that support astronauts in deep space, working side-by-side with NASA, international partners, and commercial industry.

What You'll Do

  • Lead subsystem management and integration for Gateway's Structures & Mechanisms systems.
  • Translate and apply NASA technical authority standards to structural and mechanical systems.
  • Support program milestones, safety reviews, and design/verification documentation.
  • Evaluate designs, conduct technical & safety assessments, and identify where additional verification is needed.
  • Participate in hardware testing, verification, and anomaly resolution.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to solve mission-critical technical challenges.
  • Travel occasionally to NASA centers and partner facilities, both domestic and international.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.
  • 5-10 years' experience in structural or mechanical system design, analysis, and testing.
  • Familiarity with NASA structural/mechanical standards and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across diverse teams.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years' hands-on experience with human spaceflight hardware (Orion, Commercial Crew, Shuttle, or ISS).
  • Background in systems engineering or a strong interest in developing that expertise.
  • Experience with design and verification documentation in manned space programs.
