Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Technician Specialist located in Anniston, AL.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• High School Diploma.
• Five years of experience supporting Demil or explosive operations.
• Must have Active Secret Security Clearance

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide part time support for demilitarization operation at Anniston Army Depot.
• Maintains appropriate certifications for Ammunition and Explosives (A&E) hands-on work including: AvMC A&E Handler certification, respirator certification, forklift certification, and Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
• Prepares mix ingredients using a variety of techniques including: (1) rotary evaporation of solvents, (2) drying both inert and explosive solid materials, (3) assist with grinding explosive oxidizers to desired particle size using laboratory hammer mill and fluid energy mill, and (4) sampling ingredients for chemical analysis.
• Familiar with the characteristics and interactions of different commonly used chemical and explosive ingredients.
• Familiar with the necessary mixing order of ingredient addition, mix interval times, mix process temperatures, and mixer blade speeds needed to effectively process a variety of formulation types including high performance composite propellants, double-base minimum smoke propellants, and castable warhead formulations.
• Assist with trouble-shooting difficulties encountered during processing and recommends solutions to propellant formulators. Familiar with propulsion industry operational equipment, material handling equipment, and process control instrumentation.
• Properly disposes of hazardous waste generated during ingredient preparation or mixing processes. Ensures environmental, health, and safety focus is maintained in explosive mixing operations.
