Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a qualified Shift Manager to lead our retail and Angel Soft tissue manufacturing team at the Pennington facility. Reporting to the Performance Leader, the Shift Manager will oversee a team of 15-30 employees within the Tissue department. This role partners closely with the Department Operations Team to drive long-term value and operational excellence for Georgia-Pacific.

What You Will Do

  • Effectively lead, mentor, supervise, coach, and develop hourly associates within the assigned department utilizing the Principle-Based Management Guiding Principles and Operational Excellence tools to improve capability and performance.
  • Lead and foster an environment that develops principled business owners in an Ownership-Based Work system (OBWS) who can identify learning/development solutions and optimize equipment.
  • Lead development and implementation of Performance, Skills, and Qualifications capability.
  • Address performance gaps for Master Techs and Technicians and measure performance across the work platform.
  • Handle administrative functions to include payroll, time keeping, attendance, performance evaluations, and other required administrative human resource functions.
  • Ensure that individual roles, responsibilities, and expectations (RR&E's) are aligned with mill and organizational goals to assure maximizing real long-term value for the company.
  • Regularly execute Leader Standard Work to inspect what is expected of the team.
  • Hold team and individuals accountable for operating strategies and results.
  • Develop processes and systems that promote the transfer of knowledge to all team members.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and other salaried leaders within the department to ensure master tech/technician performance gaps are identified and addressed.
  • Serve as the incident command for conducting critical communications to all necessary resources when required.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrated leadership within a manufacturing or military environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Software in the following manners: Excel (creating charts, formatting cells etc.), Outlook (creating folders, creating email messages and sending to distribution lists, scheduling appointments/meetings on calendars, etc.), Word (creating/editing documentation, formatting text, creating tables and process documentation, etc.), PowerPoint (presentation creation/editing/presenting).
  • Experience being responsible for the performance of direct reports.

  • Managing ownership-based work systems to build on-shift capabilities.
  • Experience working within a tissue/towel manufacturing operation.
  • Experience with safe work practices and Root Cause Analysis techniques.
  • Experience working within a continuous process work environment.
  • Experience working within a union manufacturing environment.
