The Opportunity The Department of Psychology in the College of Sciences (COS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for one full-time, 9-month, tenure track assistant professor position, anticipated to begin in August 2026. We seek dedicated and collegial educators/scientists who can establish collaborative relationships within the department/college as well as with other colleges at the university (e.g., Business, Medicine, Health and Public Affairs, Hospitality) and with organizations in the surrounding area. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in different modalities, including face-to-face and online. The instructional duties and services assignments are in accordance with the department's current equitable workload policy. Additionally, we are especially interested in a candidate who can contribute through their research, teaching, and services to the excellence of our academics and foster an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. The Department of Psychology is one of the largest departments by enrollment at UCF, with more than 50 full-time faculty and approximately 4,500 undergraduate majors. The department has three broad areas of emphasis in clinical psychology, human factors and cognitive psychology, and industrial and organizational psychology. UCF's online bachelor's degree in Psychology is ranked #4 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. All members of the department share a common goal of understanding behavior through empirical investigation, which is reflected in teaching and research. The department is home to two terminal master's programs in I/O Psychology and Clinical Psychology, and three doctoral programs in I/O Psychology, Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology, and Clinical Psychology, respectively. Our graduates are contributing to our community, state, and larger world through their positions in academia (e.g., Clemson, Johns Hopkins, Georgia Tech, Boston University), organizations (e.g., Google, Disney, APTMetrics, JetBlue University, IBM), government (e.g., Navy, Army, NASA, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention), and university research centers (e.g., Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine, Rutgers Career Development Center). Psychology faculty actively contribute to multidisciplinary research centers, serve in editing and peer review roles for academic journals, and collaborate with other researchers on topics of critical importance, ranging from mental health and well-being to workplace stress to emerging technologies and AI. Faculty from the I/O Program lead and contribute to multidisciplinary translational research centers, including the NIOSH-Sponsored Targeted Research Training Program, IMMERSE, and the NIMH-funded Implementation Science and Team Effectiveness in Practice (IN STEP) Children's Mental Health Research Center. Our M.S. program is dedicated to developing I/O professionals who have the skills to create and manage evidence-based solutions to organizational challenges.
