The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Area Operations Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm Location: Vacaville, CA Benefits:

What we're looking for
- Education: High school Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management is a plus
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in customer service, order management, or supply chain roles, preferably within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience
- Familiarity with direct materials, procurement, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Microsoft Office Suite; SAP experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Analytical mindset, with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team player with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience working in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience with supplier audits and quality issue resolution.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers.
- Approaches challenges analytically and creatively, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

How you will thrive and create an impact Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:
- Process and monitor purchase orders for direct materials, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the ERP system (SAP).
- Track order status from placement through to delivery, proactively communicating updates and resolving issues.
- Coordinate expedited orders as necessary to support manufacturing schedules and respond to changes in demand.
- Serve as the main point of contact for Genentech's direct material suppliers, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
- Address and resolve supplier queries regarding orders, specifications, documentation, and shipping requirements.
- Facilitate clear communication regarding changes, delays, or issues affecting supply continuity.
- Work closely with internal teams such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Planning, and Procurement to ensure material availability and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics personnel to confirm timely receipt and proper documentation of shipments.
- Support the investigation and resolution of quality, quantity, or documentation issues related to direct materials.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions, communications, and order statuses within relevant systems.
- Prepare and distribute regular reports on supplier performance metrics, order fulfillment, and inventory status.
- Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing relevant documentation in a timely and organized fashion.
- Identify opportunities to streamline order management processes and improve communication workflows.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at supplier performance improvement, cost savings, and risk reduction.
- Contribute to the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for direct material customer service.
- Act as an advocate for Genentech's internal manufacturing and supply chain "customers," ensuring their direct material needs are met efficiently and reliably.
- Resolve issues quickly with a sense of urgency and professionalism, escalating concerns when appropriate.
