- Is responsible for the set-up, operation, and all maintenance on the compound equipment.
- Is responsible for the daily preparation of high-purity semiconductor compound.
- Assists with quality control procedures to meet product specifications.
- Maintains general housekeeping and cleanliness in the production area.
- Acts as the point of contact for safety, facilities, maintenance, and relays information to the appropriate personnel during times when supervision is not on location.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must also meet one of the following requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, (Semiconductors, Automotive, Compounding, etc.).
- 2 years of technical school in Electrical and/or Maintenance field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CdTe Technician I or higher at First Solar.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in powder material compounding or similar related material process.
- High purity materials and or powder processing experience preferred.
- Metals processing experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years in a maintenance-related group preferred.

- Is able to work through standard issues that arise when supervisor is not present and escalates non-standard issues to supervisor, CdTe Production Manager, or other site management quickly and effectively.
- Audits shift data for quality check.
- Coordinates with supervisors, other Lead Techs, and CdTe Techs for day-to-day issues.
- Pulls reports and enters data or pass-downs into/from the appropriate system.
- Troubleshoots to the systems level.
- Demonstrates basic understanding of Microsoft Suite programs.
- Demonstrates strong decision-making skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for MALTZ facility and personnel when supervisor is not present.
- Operates assigned 1.5 Operations equipment and perform tasks related to the 1.5 Operations process, following established procedures that are outlined in the work instructions.
- Communicates directly from supervisors to the crew as needed. Escalates issues as appropriate.
- Adheres to all safety and quality control procedures and good housekeeping standards.
- Follows all EHS procedures regarding hazardous materials.
- Works in a team environment to optimize the output of the 1.5 Operations while maintaining a high quality product and minimizing scrap.
- Reports production accurately on both manual and electronic systems.
- Ensures the equipment is running properly and performs all maintenance and PM's as required.
- Works with engineering and/or maintenance team to run tests, identifies/troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, and identifies/troubleshoots quality deviations.
- Weighs materials for processing.
- Makes process batches.
- Loads and unloads furnaces.
- Maintains environment to prevent cross-contamination.
- Collects, maintains, and interprets data for engineering studies using Microsoft Excel or a similar program.
- Participates in Risk Assessment studies (JHA's, FMEA, LOTO and Work Instructions).
- Assists with coordinating the day-to-day operations and tasks.
- Trains associates (i.e., CdTe Technician I).
- Other duties as assigned.

- 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
- All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
