Department OverviewThe U.S. Federal Government Markets Division (USFGMD) is the leading, compliant provider of world-class communication solutions to the U.S. Federal Government. Within the USFGMD, the Federal Systems Technology department is responsible for implementing and integrating complex systems sold globally. As a USFGMD System Technologist, you will engage with a broad spectrum of communication requirements during both the pre-sale and post-sale phases of projects. Job Description

The System Technologist will be based at the Federal Managed Zone Core in Lanham, MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics.

  • Provision communication system infrastructure.

  • Optimize performance of RF and Broadband systems.

  • Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communication systems.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance, focusing on trend analysis and documentation.

  • Maintain server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, troubleshooting to resolve issues.

  • Develop solutions for challenging technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, or support.

  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales to ensure advanced communication systems meet or exceed customer expectations.

  • Provide weekly activity and accomplishment reports.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associate degree (2 years) in electronics or IT, or equivalent on-the-job experience.

  • Security +, CompTIA, or related certifications are highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.

  • Knowledge of wired communication systems, such as Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).

  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communication systems, and networking equipment.

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

  • Exceptional Communicator: Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills, essential for collaborating with Motorola's customers, subcontractors (MSS community), and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service).

Candidate Requirements:

  • The System Technologist MUST live within a commutable distance to Lanham, MD.

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer

  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

  • Associate's Degree/Technical Certificate + 2 years of experience OR 4+ years of experience with one or more of the following: P25, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience
