Are you looking for a collaborative analytical chemistry role that allows you to meaningfully contribute GSK's pre-clinical oligonucleotide pipeline? If so, this role could be an ideal opportunity to explore.

As Principal Scientist, Oligonucleotide Analytical Chemistry, you and your team will play an important role in the analysis and quality control of GSK's preclinical oligonucleotide therapeutics pipeline. You will develop and execute advanced analytical methods for a diversity of synthetic oligonucleotide modalities to help accelerate GSK's pipeline and platform technology ambitions.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Take part in the buildout of GSK's state-of-the-art analytical chemistry lab in our growing Oligonucleotide Sciences group

  • Develop and deploy robust analytical methods to support in-house oligonucleotide synthesis, including novel chemistries and conjugates

  • Use advanced LC/MS-MS capabilities to fully characterize novel synthetic oligonucleotides and related species in low-and high-throughput settings

  • Help design and manage key data pipelines

  • Collaborate internally and externally, representing Oligonucleotide Sciences Analytical Chemistry on project teams

  • Support analytical investigations, including root cause analysis, in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Participate in hiring, mentoring and training of junior team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and capability development

Why you? Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent)

  • Experience with modern mass spectrometry methodology and data analysis techniques, particularly as applied to biopolymers such as proteins, oligonucleotides, and/or glycans

  • Expertise in high-resolution LC/MS(-MS) method development, method troubleshooting, and complex data analysis

  • Experience with high-throughput LC/MS(-MS) data acquisition and analysis

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills

  • Familiarity working in cross-functional matrix project teams

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience writing bespoke MS data analysis software/scripts in R, Python, or similar

  • Experience with the LC/MS(-MS) analysis of small molecules and/or biologics

  • Experience with non-LC/MS analysis and characterization methodology, such as X-ray crystallography, UV/Vis spectrophotometry, circular dichroism, NMR, etc.

  • Exposure to other aspects of drug discovery & development, including in vitro biology, bioanalysis, DMPK, delivery, etc.
