SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Manager, IT Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the IT department ensuring the efficient and secure operation of all IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves managing IT personnel, overseeing projects, and implementing procedures and policies to enhance system performance and security. A significant focus will be on optimizing service management processes and utilizing automation to improve operational efficiency. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Reporting to the Director of I.T., position is responsible for the overall integrity, availability and confidentiality of the corporate I.T. systems and data. * Leading a staff of diverse IT professionals across help desk, servers, storage, network, security, email, wireless, barcoding, telephony and mobile device management. * Leading the risk management of Silgan's IT systems by identifying, assessing and controlling threats to Silgan's asset including threats from a wide variety of sources, including financial uncertainty, legal liabilities, strategic management errors, accidents and natural disasters. * Responsible for data protection and business continuity as it relates to IT Operations. * Identifying appropriate performance metrics for the IT Operations group, tracking performance against those metrics, and ensuring that actual performance stays at or above an acceptable level. * Identifying improvement opportunities in the areas of security, infrastructure, communications, and technical support, then implementing these based on management approval. * Defining standards for computing hardware and operational systems * Acquiring and deploying computer hardware and operational systems * Procuring and managing contractors in the support of computing and operational systems * Participating in the annual budget process for both operational and capital expenditures and for the ongoing expense reduction initiatives and ensuring adherence to budgets and evaluating expenses. * Development and ongoing review of policies and procedures related to business continuity planning, incident response and mitigation, malware remediation, vulnerability scanning and remediation and others. Implementing steps to ensure that these policies and procedures are followed. * Planning and managing projects for IT operations related projects. * Leading, mentoring, training and supporting a highly skilled and motivated team of professionals * Leading telecommunications projects and continuously evaluating existing systems against new emerging technology to ensure Silgan stays up-to-date and is using the best technology for its needs. * Developing and maintaining partnerships with existing and potential new vendors. * Implement and manage IT service management (ITSM) processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of IT services. * Leverage automation tools to streamline IT operations, including auto-alerting, auto-ticketing, onboarding/offboarding, and event correlation * Monitor and analyze ITSM metrics to continuously improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
