POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Events & Partnership Manager is responsible for leading Steamboat's year-round events and partnerships strategy, creating a comprehensive programming vision that enhances the guest experience, drives incremental revenue, and strengthens the resort's brand. This leadership role oversees the Partnership Manager, Partnerships Coordinator, and Events Coordinator, ensuring alignment across partnerships, entertainment, and event execution. A key responsibility of the Senior Manager is to lead and execute Steamboat's large signature events, ensuring they are well-planned, resourced, and deliver meaningful impact to both guests and partners. In addition, this role develops the long-term resort programming framework, manages high-level sponsorship strategy, and works closely with Alterra's partnerships team to evaluate new opportunities and maximize portfolio value. Creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex initiatives across departments are essential for success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Lead and execute Steamboat's large signature events ensuring they reflect the resort's brand and achieve both guest and partner objectives
  • Develop and implement the overall events and partnerships strategy for Steamboat, aligning with resort and Alterra business objectives
  • Oversee and mentor the Partnership Manager and Events Coordinator, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and professional growth
  • Plan a calendar of events, activations, and entertainment programming that balances resort-owned, third-party, and community initiatives
  • Manage high-level sponsorship relationships, ensuring fulfillment, innovation, and long-term growth of the partnership portfolio
  • Collaborate with Alterra's partnerships team to review and vet new opportunities, evaluate ROI, and strategically integrate new partners into the resort
  • Guide the resort's entertainment strategy, including year-round base area programming and activations that drive guest engagement and ancillary revenue
  • Oversee the events strategy, ensuring major events are well-planned, resourced, and executed in alignment with the resort's brand and operational capacity
  • Direct the development of standardized processes, templates, and reporting systems to improve efficiency, enhance communication, and elevate the way events and partnerships are showcased internally and externally
  • Manage the department budget, including production costs, sponsorship revenue forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Represent the resort and department in cross-functional meetings and with key stakeholders, providing strategic insight and recommendations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience in events, partnerships, sponsorship, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in leading and executing large-scale signature events with multiple stakeholders and high visibility
  • Proven experience managing direct reports and leading high-performing teams
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets, analyze ROI, and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and prioritization skills with the ability to oversee multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization, community partners, and corporate stakeholders
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Passion for outdoor sports, resort experiences, and guest-focused programming
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the events calendar
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers, and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Company's Service Excellence standards


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration with emphasis in Marketing or Event Management or a minimum ten years related work experience in events & promotions required


The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.

Steamboat Resort salary range: $85,000 - $100,000 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds for various events set-up
  • Must be able to ski or ride at an intermediate level
  • Ability to work in harsh outdoor weather conditions, often on uneven, icy, slippery terrain.
