Job Summary The position is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, well-balanced meals in accordance with established recipes and food safety standards. This role involves maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, managing food inventory, and ensuring timely meal preparation for both daily service and special catering events. The Cook consistently follows proper sanitation procedures and incorporates sustainable practices in all aspects of food handling. Strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork are essential for success in this position. Essential Functions 40% - Prepares and cooks food items for breakfast, lunch, and catering services in accordance with established recipes and quality standards 20% - Delivers exceptional customer service during food service operations in the cafe and at catering events, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor 20% - Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and work areas in compliance with health department regulations and organizational policies 10% - Takes product and supply inventories and stocks stations 10% - Accurately completes daily preparation checklists, temperature logs, and other required back-of-house documentation; performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in an institutional kitchen or commercial food preparation establishment. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Special Requirements: Must have a current Maricopa County Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain one. Desired Qualifications A. Understanding of kitchen hygiene, safe food handling procedures, and compliance with health codes B. Excellent written and oral communication skills C. Three (3) years or more experience in a commercial food and beverage setting in a culinary position Special Working Conditions May require some evening and weekend hours; may require lifting up to 50 lbs.; may require standing for extended periods of time. Must have a current Maricopa Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain one.
