Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Research Assistant/Assistant Systems Manager supports technical operations within the Office of Records and Registration, with a focus on Workday Student and other academic technologies. This role works closely with the Systems Manager to maintain student records systems, troubleshoot issues, provide reporting and data validation, and assist with semester and academic process setup. The position collaborates with academic and administrative units to ensure accuracy of student data and the effective use of enterprise systems. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Systems Manager reports to the Systems Manager and is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field;

  • Demonstrated understanding of relational database structures and data integrity;

  • Familiarity with higher education operations and student systems;

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting ability.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field;

  • Experience with Workday Student or similar ERP platforms;

  • Experience supporting academic records, registration, or curriculum management in a higher education setting;

  • Knowledge of data integration or reporting tools used in enterprise environments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and functional support for student records processes, including term setup, registration, and academic data updates in Workday;

  • Assist in testing, validating, and documenting system enhancements and bi-annual Workday releases;

  • Collaborate with academic departments to ensure accurate academic program data (e.g., majors, minors, certificates);

  • Maintain process documentation, reporting resources, and internal tracking tools;

  • Monitor data quality, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and support resolution of records-related issues;

  • Participate in meetings with campus stakeholders to gather requirements and coordinate system changes;

  • Support process improvements and cross-functional projects related to student records;

  • Maintain website content and technical documentation for Records and Registration;

  • Assist campus users in understanding and navigating academic systems and tools;

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including backup support for the Systems Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-starter with strong troubleshooting and research skills; able to identify solutions through available resources;

  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data integrity concepts;

  • Familiarity with student information systems and higher education business processes;

  • Excellent communication skills, especially when explaining technical information to non-technical users;

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities;

  • Strong customer service orientation and collaborative approach;

  • Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Workday Report Writer, BIRT, Argos) is a plus;

  • Understanding of FERPA and data security best practices.
