Reports To: Program Manager, Instructional Design Lead
Type: Full-time, Exempt
Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000

Position Summary
The
Learning Engineer bridges the gap between instructional design, emerging learning technologies, data analytics, IT, and user experience. This role focuses on
designing, developing, and implementing digital learning ecosystems that integrate AI/ML, immersive technologies, adaptive platforms, and performance analytics to drive learner success.
The Learning Engineer partners with instructional designers, content developers, data analysts, and client stakeholders to
optimize learning experiences, ensure scalability, and leverage data-driven insights to improve performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Experience Design & Development
- Collaborate with instructional designers to design evidence-based learning solutions that integrate technology, pedagogy, and analytics.
- Develop learning ecosystems that include WBTs, VILTs, mobile learning, adaptive pathways, and AI-enhanced personalization.
- Implement cutting-edge technologies such as immersive simulations, AR/VR environments, AI tutors, and performance dashboards.
Technology Integration & Optimization
- Evaluate, select, and integrate learning management systems (LMS), learning experience platforms (LXP), and AI-driven learning tools.
- Partner with software engineers and developers to ensure seamless integration of new learning technologies and platforms.
- Leverage APIs, xAPI, SCORM, and LTI standards to track and report learning data.
Data Analytics & Performance Insights
- Collect and analyze learning data to assess engagement, competency gains, and performance outcomes.
- Build dashboards and reports for stakeholders, highlighting learner success and areas for improvement.
- Apply A/B testing and learning analytics to continuously optimize learning design and delivery.
Innovation & Research
- Stay current on emerging trends in AI, adaptive learning, immersive tech, and microlearning.
- Conduct pilots and proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate new tools and methods.
- Provide thought leadership on future learning strategies for internal teams and client engagements.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Learning Science, Educational Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning technology, or similar roles.
- Demonstrated experience integrating and optimizing LMS, LXP, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory, digital learning design, and learning analytics.
- Proficiency in SCORM/xAPI standards, eLearning authoring tools (Storyline, Captivate, Rise, etc.), and collaboration platforms.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Learning Engineering, Instructional Design, or Data Science.
- Experience with AI-driven personalization, machine learning models, and adaptive learning frameworks.
- Familiarity with immersive technologies (AR/VR), simulations, or gamification.
- Strong understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Knowledge of DoD, federal, or enterprise training ecosystems is a plus.
