About the Role

Fifth Third Bank is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as Director of Enterprise Information Protection. Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Security Compliance, this role leads a high-impact team responsible for safeguarding sensitive data across the organization. You'll drive the vision and execution of key programs - Data Loss Prevention, Information Lifecycle Governance, Firewall Rule Compliance, and Cryptographic Controls - ensuring alignment with regulatory, legal, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise-wide Information Protection strategy.

  • Manage a team responsible for:

    • DLP policy management across platforms (endpoint, network, SaaS, M365, email, third-party sharing).

    • Information Lifecycle Governance (data retention, classification, and destruction).

    • Firewall rule compliance and governance to ensure secure, efficient, and regulation-aligned network access.

    • Cryptographic controls governance to ensure compliance and support post-quantum readiness

  • Collaborate across IT, Privacy, Legal, and business units to define and implement protection requirements.

  • Represent Information Protection in cross-functional councils (Privacy, Insider Threat, AI, etc.).

  • Oversee technology selection and implementation to support compliance and monitoring.

  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and excellence.

  • Drive continuous improvement through feedback, metrics, and process optimization.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, auditors, and oversight committees.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes through active engagement in professional forums.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven leadership in building and scaling enterprise information protection programs, ideally in banking or regulated industries.

  • Deep knowledge of frameworks and regulations: NIST 800-53, CSF, PCI DSS, FFIEC, and GLBA.

  • 6-10+ years of experience in data security, including team leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Hands-on experience in:

    • DLP, CASB, firewall rule compliance, encryption key lifecycle management

    • Data governance (classification, retention, destruction)

    • M365 and SaaS data protection and policy enforcement

  • Strong communication and influence skills - able to simplify complex topics and drive alignment.

  • Experience with agile development, change management, and organizational transformation.

  • Professional certifications such as CISM or CISSP preferred.

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.

Director, Enterprise Information Protection Total Base Pay Range 119,500.00 - 256,900.00 USD Annual

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
