GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, supervises/ initiates/ investigations on Security Police related matters such as crimes against persons/properties, illegal activities, etc. Coordinates investigations with law enforcement agencies, private security organizations or governmental agencies as indicated. Supervises security staff involved in any aspect of investigation. Responds to emergency situations throughout HFHS system; fires, accidents, criminal activities, bomb searches. Enforces HFHS, city ordinances, and state laws pertaining to such activity. Maintains adequate filing systems for retention of reports, criminal activity pattern book used in evaluation and analysis of criminal matters.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Work requires successful completion of high school and/or received a G.E.D. certificate.
  • Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • Requires minimum of five (5) years of investigative experience in Security or law enforcement.
  • Work requires a general knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as, specific knowledge of departmental and HFHS policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Work requires the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn electronic equipment, media, and/or other related software and equipment.
  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS Customer Service Policy and summarized as follows: Communication, Understanding, Sensitivity, Teamwork, Ownership, Motivation, Excellence, and Respect.
  • Work requires excellent verbal and written skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate with assigned personnel and people of varying educational levels, including patients, visitors, employees and physicians. Documentation is expected to be thorough and accurate.
  • Work requires interpersonal skills that key in on quality customer service initiatives along with the leadership skills. Must practice the customer service skills as provided through on-going training and in-service.
  • Must possess the following personal qualities:
  • Self directed, flexible, committed to the team concept, demonstrate team work, initiative and willingness to learn, willingness to instruct others, and be open to new learning experiences.
  • Position requires investigative experience in addition to supervisory experience which involves scheduling, work organizing, training and counseling of subordinate personnel.
  • Work requires the ability to conduct thorough timely investigations and compose complete detailed reports of various types.
  • Work requires the certification under Public Act 330, meeting all training requirements.
