The Columbia University College of Dental Medicine is seeking a candidate to join the Division of Prosthodontics as the Director of the Division of Prosthodontics. Candidate will also hold a full-time, non-tenure track faculty appointment at the College of Dental Medicine with rank being commensurated with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished dental educator and clinician to lead a dynamic division that serves as the academic and clinical home for predoctoral prosthodontics, postdoctoral prosthodontics and digital dentistry programs of the College of Dental Medicine.

The next Director will lead a division that sits at the heart of the College's educational and clinical missions. The Prosthodontics Division is uniquely positioned to shape the foundational skills and philosophies of CDM's predoctoral and postdoctoral students, overseeing both preclinical and clinical instruction in restorative care and guiding the transition to comprehensive patient care. With a growing emphasis on digital workflows and interdisciplinary approaches, the division plays a critical role in preparing graduates to practice at the forefront of modern dentistry.

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Dental Medicine and serving on the Dean's executive committee, the Division Director is responsible for strategic planning, faculty development, curriculum innovation, and operational oversight of an exceptional team. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader and skilled communicator who brings academic stature, clinical excellence, and a demonstrated commitment to mentoring and education. They will have the opportunity to strengthen collaborations with key departments at the university and with industry partners, support the expansion of clinical and academic programs, and help shape the future of oral health education. Specific leadership responsibilities will include:

Clinical Responsibilities:

* Pre-and post-doctoral didactic and clinical teaching

Leadership Responsibilities:

* Accountability and fiscal responsibility with transparency to divisional faculty and staff for the daily operations of the division and the College of Dental Medicine

* Mentorship of divisional faculty and staff, helping support the scholarship/research endeavors of the division

* Supervision of the activities of the division including responsibility for department curriculum, clinical operations/education of predoctoral students, and the quality of patient care in the discipline of Prosthodontics

* Responsibility for the didactic component of the divisional curriculum. This will include developing syllabi, lectures, competency examinations, and evaluation of student progress.

* Management of divisional faculty and staff including scheduling and the management of faculty/staff workloads and assignments

* Compliance with CODA standards as well as school, medical center, and university policies and procedures

* Participation in the monthly school leadership meetings, with communication of relevant issues discussed at these meetings to the division's faculty and staff

* Set and implement annual goals for the division

* Provide formal written faculty evaluations at least annually to determine the effectiveness of the faculty in meeting the goals of the division and school

* Other duties as assigned by the dean

Requirements:

* Have a DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree in dentistry.

* Have a valid New York State dental license or be eligible for New York State dental licensure.

* Completed a CODA accredited specialty training program in prosthodontics.

* Preference will be given to applicants who have achieved diplomate status with the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABP)

* Experience and demonstrated leadership in an academic dental setting, in addition to research experience also preferred.

* Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in the management of education programs

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
