Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Medical & Education Data Analyst to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Develops data collection and analysis methodology, including helping students navigate ethical considerations, defining detailed data requirements, data sources, and proper data collections procedures for statistical analysis.
  • Develops and implements data collection quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy, validity, and reliability of results.
  • Provides expertise to the quantitative and qualitative data analysis of health research data.
  • Makes recommendations regarding design and data collection methodology for clinical, healthcare, or epidemiological research.
  • Mentors HWCOM students with the study design and during the conduction of their Research Scholarship Course (RSC) projects, with emphasis on the steps related to the collection of primary or secondary data; data cleaning / preparation / management; data analysis (including discussion of theoretical concepts, methods, and hands-on activities); and interpretation and report of research findings.
  • Responsible for data organization, maintenance of databases, statistical analysis, general interpretation and reporting of results to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Supports other educational activities conducted by the Division, with emphasis on those related to research data collection, evaluation, analysis, interpretation and report.
  • Collects data using appropriate methods (e.g.: checklists, global rating scales, surveys, forms, questionnaires, etc.).
  • Generates reports, charts, tables, and presentations as appropriate for the reporting of data and outcomes to individuals, offices, and committees.
  • Builds and maintains structures as needed to capture data for longitudinal reporting.
  • Serves as a resource for faculty conducting health research regarding data issues such as appropriate collection and entry methods as well as data quality.
  • Collaborates with HWCOM IT to identify requirements and parameters for data delivery and specifications.
  • Serves as a key member of Committees that are related to the projects the individual is making or working on.
  • Responsible for quality control of data compilation and analysis, results interpretation, visualization, and reporting for the Program.
  • Trains other research analysts on health data statistics to support the Office of Research and HWCOM.
  • Establishes, builds, and maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with students and project stakeholders, including diverse body of staff and faculty across departments. Works with a high degree of autonomy, organizes multifaceted projects, and develops accurate timelines for completion.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six (6) years of appropriate experience or a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of appropriate experience.

Desired Qualifications

Degree in Biostatistics preferred

Analytical and statistical expertise in predominantly clinical, healthcare, and epidemiological research.

Working knowledge of common statistical variables, including but not limited to variable types, scale types, descriptive statistics, basic statistical inferences (t-test, z-test, chi-square, regression), and the experience in using R, python, or SQL, and the statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata, and SAS that support these analyses.
